This catalogue was published in conjunction with the Akan Goldweights exhibition, which took place in the Museum of African Art in Belgrade from December 2010 to August 2011. Curated by Marija Licina (MAA curator), the exhibition presented more than 500 goldweights from their own collection and over 200 Akan Goldweights from the collection of the Slovene Ethnographic Museum.

The collection of Goldweights of the Museum of African Art were collected by Veda and Zdravako Pecar between 1972 and 1978 and was later on donated.

The bilingual (English/Serbian) catalogue gives and historical overview of Akan Goldweights and illustrated with some very fine examples of primarily figurative weights.
